luxury meets utlity

an all new concept which combines occupant accessibility with mercedes styling, comfort and luxury

our buyer

This vehicle will focus much on our buyer Kate. The size and layout will be well suited to her and her family. Large openings will facilitate accessibility for her and her children. Styling and feel will also be important as the Mercedes brand is very distinctive and Kate has very defined tastes.

distinctive Style

Kate’s style is important to her. She is very busy but likes to express herself through her style. She feels it is a way for her to hold onto herself and her individuality within her often chaotic lifestyle.

Inspiration meets interpretation

Kate has a very distinct style. She is a mom and has her hands full taking care of 4 kids, but she never strays away from looking her best and expressing herself through style. It’s important to capture her essence through form and proportion. Her vehicle needs to have function and accessibility for her kids, but through design language and form it also needs to represent something Kate would happily drive. While fitting in the Mercedes brand, it also needs have an upscale feel to it, through simplified forms, clean transitions, and clear surface resolutions. Lets explore what forms might fit the bill…

final direction

The evolution of what I feel the design should be. I simplified a lot to fit the aesthetic tastes of my buyer and the design language of Mercedes. Im happy with the proportions. It’s unique; modern. Not quite a minivan, not quite an SUV. I now have a design I can take into 3D.

1/5 scale mockup

I’ve CNC milled out the Alias data from a block of high density foam. Ive finished it with two different sets of primer so I can see what the graphic breakup look like. Simple; Quick process. Laser cut scale figures help to get a true feel of the scale of this vehicle and how’d they’d interact with it.
